Abstract

Improving the quality and efficiency of construction on problematic soil conditions largely depends on the correct assessment of their properties, the choice of foundations, and structural and technological solutions. This study presents a practical solution for improving soil bases using reinforcement as the chosen method of improvement. The effectiveness of the reinforcing element was established experimentally, which made it possible to identify the peculiarities of changing strength and deformation properties of ground bases reinforced with geosynthetic material, as well as the possibility of modeling destructive soils using a "quasi-soil" approach. Analysis of the influence of reinforcing geosynthetic material proved its positive effect on the properties of the ground. The calculation of the coefficient of relative collapse after reinforcing became 0.03. Geosynthetic material is not subject to rotting, or root penetration, the structure of the material provides good strength and filtering properties. Thus, the use of geosynthetic materials allows the improvement of the mechanical properties of soils in a targeted way.
