Abstract

Roads for wheeled vehicles are one of the main types of transportation infrastructure required for economic activity. The construction of road pavements with cement concrete requires the use of modern, expensive concrete-laying machines. The complexity of this construction technology can be an impediment to using these materials. The main reason for the complexity of the technology, is the use of traditional Portland cement, with a fast-setting time. This paper presents a study of the strength properties of belite cement. The samples were investigated under normal conditions, at constant low positive and negative temperatures according to the specified curing regimes. The results of the study show that the development of the strength of belite cement can exceed conventional concrete. Concrete based on belite binder at 90 days has similar strength as conventional concrete. While the conventional concrete stopped gaining strength at 30 days, the strength of the slag concrete based on belite cement binder continued to increase for 15 months.
